Ijazah
What is the meaning of Ijazah?
It is a license authorizing its holder to transmit a certain text or subject which is issued by someone already possessing such authority.
In other words, if someone who memorizes the whole Qur’an, recited the whole Qur’an with his Shaikh applying the rules of Tajwid in a perfect way, then he will be given by his Shaikh a certificate with the (Sanad ) which is considered as a license and permission from his Shaikh to teach the Muslims the Qur’an all over the world.
His Shaikh has also Ijazah.
why is the Ijaza important?
The Holy Quran is the speech of Allah, therefore it’s so important for the one who teaches it to have proof that he has permission from his Shaikh to do so.
*If there is no Ijazah the gate of teaching the Qur’an will be opened for everyone who may be unqualified, unknowledgeable.
*If there is someone who recites the Qur’an with perfect Tajwid, but doesn’t memorize the whole Qur’an he can get a certificate of perfect recitation (from his Shaikh who has an Ijazah), but this certificate without (Sanad).
