Memorizing and learning The Quran

No doubt that learning and memorizing the Quran is one of the best deeds which helps the Muslim to get closer to Allah, so that a lot of Muslims all over the world wish to learn the Holy Quran and memorize it. Here in this article we will try to cover the following points:

* Some virtues of learning and memorizing the Quran.

1 – Learning and memorizing the Quran is one of the best acts which make the Muslim to be closer to Allah.

(عن على بن أبى طالب قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم: من تعلم القرآن فاستظهره و حفظه أدخله الله الجنة و شفعه فى عشرة من أهل بيته كلهم قد وجبت لهم النار

It was narrated that Ali Bin Abi Talib (رضى الله عنه) said: the the messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: (Whoever learns the Quran and learns it by heart, Allah will admit him to paradise, and will grant him intercession for ten of his family, all of whom will due for Hell). reference: Musnad Ahmed.

2 – The Muslim who learns and teaches the Quran will be one the best Muslim:

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم: ( خيركم من تعلم القرآن و علمه)

رواه البخارى

The messenger of Allah said: (the best amongst you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it) it was narrated by Al-Bukhari

3 – Memorizing Quran make the Muslim get the highest ranks in the paradise:

عن عبد الله بن عمرو رضى الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال: (يقال لصاحب القرآن: اقرأ و ارتق و رتل كما كنت ترتل فى الدنيا فإن منزلك عند آخر آية تقرؤها) رواه احمد و أبو داوود و الترمذى

Abd Allah Bin Amr narrated the Allah messenger said: (the one who was devoted to the Quran will be told to recite, ascend, and recite carefully as he recited carefully when he was in the world, for he will reach his abode when he comes to the last verse he recites) Ahmed Abu Dawod At-Termidhi.

4 – learning and reciting the Quran purify the heart from bad feeling:

قال تعالى: (و ننزل من القرآن ما هو شفاءً و رحمة و لا يزيد الظالمين إلا خسارًا)

5 – learning and memorizing Quran guide the Muslim the best manners and the best actions and reactions:

قال تعلى: ( إن هذا القرآن يهدى للتى هى أقوم), و قال تعالى: ( و كذلك أوحينا إليك روحًا من أمرنا ما كنت تدرى ما الكتاب و لا الإيمان و لكن جعلناه نورًا نهدى به من نشاء من عبادنا و إنك لتهدى إلى صراطٍ مستقيم)

Allah Almighty said what means: (Indeed this Quran guides to that which is most suitable), and said what means: (And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command.You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path).

* 10 steps help you to complete the memorizing of the Quran.

1 – Pray to Allah a lot to grant you to memorize the whole Quran and to apply its commands.

2 – Be patient.

3 – Set a program for memorizing the Quran and revising it daily.

4 – Be hardworking.

5 – Don not give up to the obstacles and hardships which will meet you.

6 – Learn the Quran with A perfect teacher who has an Ijazah.

7 – choose a good time for daily memorizing and revision (usually the best time is after Al-Fajr).

8 – Do not waste the time.

9 – Be far away from the sins.

10 – Recite the new verses which you memorize when you pray the five prayers.

* 10 steps help your kid to memorize Qur’an:

1 – He has to learn Qur’an with a qualified teacher.

2 – You have to revise what he recited with his teacher daily.

3 – You should ask his teacher to set up a program for daily revision with your kid.

4 – When you choose the class time, choose the morning when the mind is active.

5 – Kindly, give the kid all his needs before starting the class, also he should go the bathroom.

6 – After finishing the class give him something he loves to eat or drink.

7 – Buy him a gift after finishing memorizing a Soorah.

8 – The memorizing is better to be after Fajr prayer, the revision will be in the evening before sleeping, then tell him an interesting story.

9 – Try to explain him (in brief) the meaning of the Soorah.

10 – Teach him to apply commands of the Soorah and avoid its prohibitions.

* 6 things are obstacles to memorizing the Qur’an:

1 – Wasting the time in watching movies, series, and trivia programs.

2 – Many sins, backbiting and gossip.

3 – Haste and impatience.

4 – Not accompanying the righteous friends.

5 – Not setting a daily program and being patient to implement it.

6 – Not respecting and appreciating the value of time and making sure it is well spent.
